Minako Merritt...
Minako was born and
raised in metropolitan Tokyo, Japan. She started studying piano when she was 8
years old and eventually received a Bachelors of Arts degree in Music (Piano
Curriculum) from the Musashino College of Music in Tokyo. After graduating
college, Minako taught piano for Kawai Music School followed by the Yamaha Music
School. She concurrently performed on the piano in two-piano and ensemble
performances before audiences in the greater Tokyo area. Minako was
married to Wayne Merritt in 1993 and moved to the U.S. in 1995 along with her
husband, stepson, and daughter. Since coming to the U.S., Minako has had
numerous piano students of all levels and ability. She has also performed
on countless occasions all over New England in a multitude of roles ranging from
2 Piano Concerts and accompaniment for Opera, Various Instruments, and Chorus. Minako’s
daughter Kristin, 11, has been studying violin since the age of 5 and is
currently studying at The Bell Center under the tutelage of Mrs. Barta Anderson.
